The Indian Women’s tour of Bangladesh comes to an end with the last ODI ending tied. India Women, after restricting Bangladesh Women to 225 managed to score 225 as well in the 2nd inning. The ODI series ended 1-1 and both teams shared the trophy. But some umpiring decisions during the 3rd ODI left the Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur shocked. She was unhappy with some of the umpiring decisions and express herself animatedly as well. For that, the ICC also fined 75% of her match fees and gave her 4 demerit points for the behavior during the 3rd ODI. Let’s talk about that in detail.

India Women’s Tour of Bangladesh

Indian Women went on a Bangladesh tour for a three-match T20I and a three-match ODI series. India won the T20I series by 2-1. They sealed the series after winning the first two games after Bangladesh managed to win the last T20I by 4 wickets.

The ODI series between the two teams ended 1-1 and both teams shared the trophy. Bangladesh won the first ODI by 40 runs in a rain-affected match.

India Women made a comeback

India made a strong comeback in the 2nd ODI by winning convincingly by 108 runs. Rodrigues (86) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (52) scored half-centuries and India Women managed to score 228 in the first inning. They bowled Bangladesh Women out for just 120 and level the series 1-1.

The incident happened in the 3rd ODI

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. The openers, S Sultana and F Hoque added 93 runs for the first wicket. The former scored 52 while the latter went on to score hundred. F Hoque scored 107 off 160 balls with 7 fours. Bangladesh Women scored 225 for 4 in the first inning.

India’s 2nd inning

When India Women came out to bat, they had two early wickets inside 5 overs. And the heated moment started when Yastika Bhatia was given out lbw in the 5th over. She stood her ground and continued to look at the umpire after she went to the dressing room.

Harmanpreet Kaur express her disappointment with their own dismissal

Things get more heated when the umpire gave Harmanpreet Kaur out. Nahida Akter got her out lbw but when Harmanpreet Kaur tries to attempt a sweep shot. She shows her disappointment for her dismissal and struck the stumps with her bat.

Before leaving and giving the crowd a thumbs up, she addressed the umpires as well in disarray.

Harmanpreet talks about umpiring in a post-match presentation as well

Harmanpreet Kaur again told about the umpiring decisions in a post-match presentation. She said – “ Even apart from the cricket, the kind of umpiring that was happening we were very surprised. The next time we come to Bangladesh we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring and prepare ourselves accordingly.

She also said that the umpiring in this game was pathetic. “Some pathetic umpiring was done, and we are extremely disappointed with some of the umpires’ decisions.” – She added.

Harmanpreet couldn’t control herself even after the post-match

The matter did not finish even after the post-match presentation.  According to reports, Harmanpreet Kaur said something that led the home team’s captain, Nigar Sultana, to leave during the formal photo shoot.

Sultana, after the photo session, told about the incident that happened during the photoshoot. “There are some discussions that cannot be revealed. Whatever happened, I didn’t think I should have stayed with the team. So I left from there.” – Sultana said during a post-match press conference.

Harmanpreet Kaur reportedly commented, “Bring the umpires too,” meaning they were a part of the Bangladesh team, during the end-of-series photo with both sets of players. Nigar reportedly addressed it with BCB officials before leading her team back to the changing rooms.

The ICC fined match fees and gave demerit points to the Indian skipper

For her behavior, Harmanpreet Kaur was fined 75% of her match fees and docked 4 demerit points as well. At one stage, it looks like she will also be banned for a few games but she survived that scare.
