Team to Qualify: Current Scenario of Teams to Qualify for ICC world cup 2023

With West Indies’ ouster, there are now four teams left to compete, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Scotland, and the Netherlands. Sri Lanka has become the first team to qualify for the world cup 2023 after crushing Zimbabwe by 9 wickets. With 8 points and one game left they are sitting at the top of the table.

The battle is narrowed down to 3 teams now out of which Zimbabwe and Scotland are the two teams who have higher chances to be the 2nd teams to qualify for the world cup 2023. Zimbabwe is sitting in the 2nd place with 6 points in hand in 4 games. If Zimbabwe wins all its remaining two games, then there is no doubt that they will qualify otherwise, they have to wait for Scotland to lose any, of its remaining two games.

Scotland is in 3rd place with 4 points in 3 games and they have a chance to qualify. If they win the remaining two games against Zimbabwe and Netherlands. Their net run rate is slightly better than Zimbabwe’s. So, if they beat them in the upcoming match on July 4 then their chances to qualify will be higher.

The Netherlands is the third team that is still in the race but sadly their qualification seems impossible even if they win all their remaining games. They are sitting in 4th place with 4 points in 4 games. They will face Scotland in their last game on 6 July where their win could make Zimbabwe way clear for the qualification.

Conclusion

As the tournament draws to a close, the battle for these two spots is getting tense. Sri Lanka has secured its place in the World Cup 2023, leaving only one spot remaining. Zimbabwe are strong contenders to grab the 10th spot but will face a tough challenge from Scotland.

After defeating West Indies in their last game, Scotland will be high on confidence. Their remaining two games are crucial where the win is a must. If they lose any, then Zimbabwe will surely qualify for the world cup 2023. It will be interesting to see what strategy Scotland will use to be the team to qualify for the world cup 2023. Their net run rate is their plus point but to qualify they have to beat Zimbabwe at any cost.

The Netherlands has nothing to lose now as they know they are out of the qualification race. So, they will play freely in their remaining game against Scotland.  If they win, then they will take back Scotland home along with them.

The national team of West Indies not being a part of the World Cup this season will disappoint West Indies fans. It is hard to accept but cricket is a game of uncertainties, where everything is possible.
