The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the best leagues in the world and it is a very good platform for youngsters to showcase their talent. It gives them ample opportunities to play with some of the big players and gives them important exposure before coming into the international circuit. There are a few youngest IPL players who made their debut too early in this league. And today, we will talk about them in detail.

We saw in the IPL over the years, a few youngsters have done well and then went on to represent their countries as well. We have seen players like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, SK Yadav, R Ashwin, etc come into the team after doing well in the IPL.

Not only Indian players but players from overseas also wants to do well in the IPL. Some of the big overseas youngsters have also done well in the IPL and then played for their countries. List of youngest IPL players to debut:-

(1) Prayas Ray Barman

He is one of the youngest IPL players to debut in the history of this league. Prayas Ray Barman made his IPL debut for RCB against SRH in 2019.

The West Bengal-born cricketer was 16 years and 157 days old when he made his IPL debut. He only played one game in that season. In that game, he scored 19 off 24 balls with 2 fours and gave 56 runs in his 4 overs. RCB lost that game by 118 runs.

The leg spinner was bought by RCB for INR 1.5 crores in the 2019 IPL auction. Although, after that game, he didn’t see in the IPL.

(2) Mujeeb ur Rehman

The Afghanistan mystery spinner was only 17 years and 11 days old when he made his IPL debut. He was the first cricketer to play IPL who was born in the 21st century.

Having played his IPL debut in 2018 with Punjab Kings (PBKS), he has taken 19 wickets in 19 games with an average of 31.16 and a strike rate of 22.84. His economy is 8.18 and the best figure of 3 for 27 in IPL.

Mujeeb ur Rehman played his first IPL game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in which, he took 2 wickets after giving 28 runs. He played for PBKS for 3 years before coming into SRH in 2021. He was one of the youngest IPL players to debut in the history of this league.

(3) Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag made his IPL debut in 2019 when he was 17 years and 152 days old. Since then, he is playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR). He has been given a role of a finisher but hasn’t lived as per the franchise’s expectations.

Riyan Parag has played 54 IPL games till now and scored only 600 runs with an average of 16.22 and a strike of 123.97. He has scored 2 fifties in that period and his best score is 56, which came against RCB last year.

 (4) Sarfaraz Khan

He was one of the youngest IPL players to debut in the history of this league. Sarfaraz Khan made his IPL debut at the age of 17 years and 177 days.

He played his first IPL game for RCB in 2015 against CSK. In that game, he scored 11 off 7 balls with a six. Since then, he has played 50 IPL games and scored 585 runs at an average of 22.5 and a strike rate of 130.58. His best score in the IPL is 67.

Sarfaraz Khan has played for three teams in the IPL till now. He started his career with RCB. Then he was bought by Punjab Kings and right now, he is playing for Delhi Capitals this year.

He is doing well in the domestic circuit and we might see him playing test cricket for Team India if he continues to do well in the Ranji Trophy.

(5) Abhishek Sharma

The left-arm spinner and an all-rounder, is playing for SRH in the IPL 2023. Abhishek Sharma played his first IPL game for Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2018 against RCB. He scored an outstanding 46 off 19 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Although, DC lost that game because of AB de Villiers’ brilliance.

Abhishek represented Delhi Capitals in 2018 before coming into SRH in 2019. Since then, he is with the SRH franchise. He has scored 892 runs in 47 IPL games till now with an average of 22.80 and a strike rate of 137.23.
